On this page you will find answers to frequently asked questions about SAFE-living. Did you not find the answer you were looking for in the FAQ? Then call us or send us a message. We will be happy to answer any further questions you may have.
What makes falls so dangerous?
Every 6 minutes, a person over the age of 65 falls in Switzerland. More than 8 out of 10 of the elderly fall when they are alone and more than half are not able to get up again independently afterwards.
This is exactly what makes falls so dangerous: If there is no quick reaction to a fall, serious complications can arise. Thromboses or muscle and tissue damage are frequent side effects. In addition to the obvious physical damage, the psychological effects of falls should not be underestimated: The increased fear of falling leads to less activity in everyday life and damages self-confidence and independence in one’s own home.
What is passive safety and why do I need it?
8 out of 10 people with a conventional emergency call system such as an emergency call button do not use it in an emergency. Reasons for this include fainting or the simple fact that the device is not worn 24/7 and is not within reach at the time of the fall.
With the SAFE-living solution, there is no need to wear a wearable bracelet or actively operate anything. Instead, you enjoy 24/7 automated safety at home. Through an intelligent and contactless fall and emergency detection, different types of falls and other possible emergency situations are distinguished (slow, fast or tripping falls) and these are differentiated from everyday activities such as a yoga exercise or a cat jumping around.
What technical requirements do I need?
All you need is electricity, WiFi and optionally a mobile device (e.g. smartphone or tablet) on which you can install the SAFE-living app. However, if you do not have a smartphone, this is not a problem. The emergency contacts defined by you should however install the app on their smartphone if possible.
Is my data safe?
Your data is of utmost importance to us. Therefore, the measured activity by the emergency detectors is encrypted. Data storage and processing is in Switzerland and is, of course, data protection-compliant.
What if I don't have WiFi at home?
If you do not have WiFi, then we will assist you in the purchase of a WiFi.
I'm not that technically savvy.
You will receive detailed instructions on the day of the installation. If any questions should come up afterwards, we will of course be there for you.
How are the emergency detectors installed?
Drilling two holes on the ceiling per emergency detector or gluing them to the ceiling and connecting them to the electricity. The installation is done by our electrician.
How do the first responders get into my home in an emergency?
In this case, we offer a key safe with a pin code for the mailbox, in which you can leave a spare key. The pin code of the key safe is registered with our 24/7-Sedimentum emergency response centre and communicated to the first responder in the event of an emergency.
What happens when you move?
The SAFE-living solution includes installation by our certified installation partner. In case of a move, the devices have to be uninstalled and set up again in the new flat by the installation partner. The costs for the reinstallation are charged to the customers themselves. In the event of a pending move, Sedimentum kindly asks to be informed as soon as possible.
Do I have to inform my property management about the installation of the SAFE-living solution?
No, because the installation of the emergency detectors is carried out with certified partners who do not leave any damage beyond natural wear and tear. During installation, the customer can choose whether the emergency detectors are drilled/screwed or glued. The installation can be compared to mounting a picture or a lamp.
